The successful incumbent will lead Debmarine Namibia’s Security Section to ensure the protection of mineral resources, company assets, and the fleet operations. The successful individual will be responsible for developing and executing integrated security strategies aligned with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
Job Description
THE SECURITY MANAGER WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FOLLOWING KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**:**
1. Security Strategy & Integrated Security Systems:
- The implementation of Debmarine Namibia Security’s strategy to maximise the protection of mineral resources, products and company assets according to the Namibian Diamond Act 13 of 1999.
- The facilitation of a fully integrated security system at Debmarine Namibia.
- The monitoring of the effectiveness and relevance of protection and security systems.
- The co-ordination of the gathering of intelligence of both national and international significance pertaining to the environment in which Debmarine Namibia and De Beers operates, and which potentially impacts on the strategic direction of the company's business operations, protection of resources and interests at large, and reports this to senior management.
- The management and facilitation across discipline risk management projects to increase the scope and nature of security protection.
- The reviews and adjustment of the security strategy, on an on-going basis to ensure departmental effectiveness is within the business context and the protection of company resources, departmental budgeting, long-term planning, and policy development.
- Defining, co-ordinating and auditing the company protection initiatives and interventions across all departments and to ensure the incorporation of relevant measures into business processes.
- Implementing new knowledge/ information by keeping abreast of developments in the field of responsibility and assessing applicability to De Beers operations.
- Using expertise to introduce systems which enhance the effectiveness of the Section.
- Adhering to and promoting Company policies and procedures relating to health, safety, security and environmental issues
2. Investigation Management
- To take action when an incident occurs by:
- Ensuring that the incident is preliminary investigated to establish the facts, secure evidence and enable timely corrective and preventative action.
- Reporting findings and recommendations in consultation with the Security Superintendent Investigations to ensure alignment, enable informed decision making, and drive appropriate corrective and preventative actions.
3. Subordinate Management
- To Manages and control subordinates for optimum utilisation by:
- Setting individual and team goals to support departmental objectives.
- Directing subordinates to achieve individual and team objectives.
- Assessing subordinate performance and implementing corrective measures where necessary.
- Identifying and addressing training needs.
- Providing mentorship as required.
- Developing and implementing career and succession plans to increase section and individual effectiveness.
4. Maritime Security and the ISPS code:
- Act as Company Security Officer responsible for Marine Security and the ISPS Code to ensure regulatory compliance, effective risk management and the protection of vessels, crew and Company assets.
- Facilitate stakeholder engagements to ensure ISPS compliance.
Qualifications
CANDIDATE MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
- Degree in Security Risk Management or equivalent
- Minimum of 8 years’ relevant experience in the Security Risk Environment
THE FOLLOWING COMPETENCIES ARE KEY FOR THIS POSITION:
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills
- Handling of confidential matters
- Excellent communication and reporting skills
- Adherence to principles and values
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Diamond Act and human rights frameworks
- Proficiency in MS Office
