R&D Cybersecurity Engineer
Position Summary
The R&D Cybersecurity Engineer is responsible for researching, evaluating, prototyping, and integrating emerging cybersecurity technologies that improve the organization's vulnerability management capabilities. This role focuses on innovation, automation, advanced analytics, and development of next-generation cyber defense capabilities supporting web application and enterprise security.
Primary Responsibilities
- Research emerging cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and attack techniques.
- Evaluate new vulnerability scanning and application security technologies.
- Design proof-of-concept solutions for automated vulnerability detection and remediation.
- Develop custom security tools and automation scripts.
- Conduct research into AI-assisted vulnerability analysis and prioritization.
- Perform advanced penetration testing research.
- Develop custom plugins, APIs, and integrations for security platforms.
- Support DevSecOps initiatives and secure CI/CD pipelines.
- Research software supply chain security.
- Evaluate Software Composition Analysis (SCA) solutions.
- Develop security dashboards and data analytics capabilities.
- Prototype machine learning applications for cyber defense.
- Perform exploit validation in controlled laboratory environments.
- Collaborate with developers to integrate secure coding practices.
- Document research findings and transition successful prototypes into production.
- Provide technical recommendations regarding future cybersecurity capabilities.
Basic Qualifications
- Ten (10) years of relevant IT experience
- Five (5) Years of relevant Operation Technology experience
- Investigative Requirement: At time of proposal the contractor must possess a Moderate Risk, Confidential, Non- Critical Sensitive, Tier 3/NACLC/ANACI investigation.
- Relevant certification meeting DOD 8570/8140 IAT level III, and IASAE level III. (Must have IASAE III Certification within 6 months of coming on the contract. Must meet all other requirements.)
- Computing Environment (CE): Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate or Expert, Cisco Certified Network Administrator, Microsoft Azure Security Technologies, Amazon Certified Security.
