Purpose of the Role

The role is responsible for safeguarding the movable and immovable assets of the Tata Motors CV Plant, Pimpri by ensuring the highest standards of fire and safety management across the plant premises. The incumbent will drive fire prevention, emergency preparedness, risk mitigation, and statutory compliance initiatives to achieve zero fire-related incidents and ensure a safe working environment for employees, contractors, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Perspective

  • Conduct regular inspections of firefighting equipment and systems to identify shortages, damages, and discrepancies for effective cost management.
  • Ensure optimum utilization, upkeep, and timely maintenance of fire safety assets and infrastructure within the plant.
  • Minimize losses arising from fire incidents, unsafe conditions, and equipment failures through proactive monitoring and preventive actions.

2. Fire & Safety Management

  • Ensure implementation and adherence to fire and safety standards across shop floors, utilities, warehouses, administrative areas, and all plant operations.
  • Safeguard employees, visitors, plant infrastructure, and company assets through effective fire prevention and emergency response practices.
  • Achieve zero fire-related accidents through continuous monitoring, audits, and awareness initiatives.
  • Conduct regular fire drills, mock evacuations, and fire safety training programs for employees and Emergency Response Team (ERT) members.
  • Investigate fire incidents, unsafe acts, near misses, and safety observations; recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure readiness and maintenance of all firefighting equipment including fire extinguishers, hydrant systems, sprinklers, alarms, pumps, and suppression systems.
  • Monitor strict compliance with Permit to Work (PTW) systems for hot work, confined space entry, electrical maintenance, and high-risk jobs.
  • Identify and assess risks associated with manufacturing, maintenance, utility, and contractor activities and implement necessary mitigation measures.
  • Coordinate emergency response activities during fire or safety incidents within the plant.
  • Promote safe operational practices across STP, WWTP, utility areas, storage zones, and other critical facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory fire and safety regulations applicable to industrial and manufacturing operations.
  • Coordinate and support internal and external audits related to ISO 14001, ISO 45001/OHSAS standards, and other safety management systems.
  • Liaise with local fire authorities, DISH officials, and government agencies for compliance inspections, approvals, and audits.
  • Maintain documentation, records, and reports related to fire safety compliance and statutory requirements.

4. People Management

  • Guide and support team members on fire and safety-related matters while addressing operational concerns and grievances professionally.
  • Create and promote a strong safety culture through employee engagement, awareness programs, and regular communication.
  • Educate employees, contractors, and staff members on fire safety codes, emergency preparedness, evacuation procedures, and preventive safety measures.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of fire and safety policies and procedures.
  • To coordinate statutory inspections, safety audits, compliance reviews, certifications, and emergency preparedness assessments.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Education: B.Sc. Graduate with Diploma/Certification in Industrial Fire & Safety from MGLI or any recognized institute.
  • Mandatory Certification: Sub Fire Officer Certification.
  • Experience: 6–8 years of relevant industrial fire and safety experience.
