Job Description
BryceTech is seeking a DevSecOps Systems Engineer to support a customer-facing technology program focused on integrating and operationalizing complex software and technology capabilities. This position will work at the intersection of systems engineering, software integration, DevSecOps, cybersecurity, and technical problem-solving to help the customer accomplish technical objectives that may not be achievable through traditional approaches.
The engineer will work closely with software developers, technical teams, cybersecurity personnel, and other stakeholders to identify integration challenges, develop and evaluate potential technical approaches, coordinate implementation and testing, and help move capabilities from proof of concept through operational use. This position requires someone who is comfortable working in ambiguous environments, defining approaches when requirements or success criteria are still evolving, and taking ownership of difficult technical problems from initial concept through successful integration.
This position is not primarily responsible for writing production software. Instead, the engineer will serve as a technical problem solver and integrator who understands modern software development and DevSecOps practices well enough to work effectively with development teams, evaluate technical solutions, coordinate implementation, and determine whether an integrated capability meets the customer's needs.
Responsibilities
Analyze complex technical and systems integration challenges and develop practical approaches to address problems that may not have established solutions
Work with software developers, systems engineers, cybersecurity personnel, and other technical stakeholders to design, integrate, test, and operationalize software capabilities
Translate customer needs and technical objectives into actionable integration approaches and technical requirements
Evaluate multiple potential technical solutions and recommend approaches based on technical feasibility, risk, security, performance, integration complexity, and customer requirements
Work closely with prime contractor and development teams to coordinate the implementation of technical solutions
Support software and systems integration from proof of concept through testing, demonstration, initial operational capability, and continued operational use
Understand and evaluate CI/CD pipelines and the software development lifecycle, including source control, automated builds, testing, security scanning, artifact management, and deployment
Identify issues or bottlenecks within development, integration, testing, and deployment processes and work with developers to determine and implement appropriate solutions
Support cybersecurity activities required to move integrated capabilities into operational environments, including coordination with cybersecurity and authorization personnel
Assist with configuration, deployment, and integration activities required to establish and maintain operational capabilities
Coordinate technical testing with development teams and evaluate test results to determine whether proposed solutions satisfy technical and customer requirements
Investigate system behavior and integration issues by gathering information, analyzing data and logs, identifying potential root causes, and coordinating corrective actions
Work with event-driven architectures and messaging technologies such as Apache Kafka to understand and troubleshoot data and system interactions
Work with containerized application environments and technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm charts
Work within Linux environments and use Linux command-line tools to investigate issues, review system behavior, troubleshoot integrations, and support technical evaluations
Use Git and GitLab to understand source-control and CI/CD workflows and collaborate effectively with software development teams
Participate in technical demonstrations, integration events, exercises, testing events, and other activities requiring coordination across multiple technical organizations
Develop technical documentation, integration plans, test plans, procedures, findings, and recommendations
Communicate technical issues, risks, solution options, and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Operate effectively in environments where requirements, technical approaches, and success criteria may evolve throughout the integration process
Take ownership of technical problems from initial identification through solution development, testing, integration, and operational implementation
