De Montfort University Dubai is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Assistant Professor in Computer Science and Informatics (Cybersecurity and Penetration Testing) to join the Faculty of Technology, Arts & Culture.

The role will contribute to the delivery of a high-quality, student-centred academic experience across Computer Science programmes, with a specialist focus on cybersecurity, penetration testing and ethical hacking. The postholder will combine strong academic knowledge with current industry practice and support students in developing practical capability across areas including network and system security, vulnerability assessment, web and application security, secure computing and cyber defence. Key Responsibilities

    • Deliver lectures, tutorials, seminars, laboratory sessions and workshops across Computer Science and Informatics, with particular emphasis on cybersecurity and penetration testing.
    • Design and deliver practical, hands-on cybersecurity activities within safe and controlled laboratory environments.
    • Develop, set, mark and moderate assessments in line with University academic regulations and quality standards.
    • Provide timely and constructive feedback to support student learning, progression and attainment.
    • Use appropriate digital learning technologies and inclusive teaching approaches to support diverse student cohorts.
    • Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate projects and dissertations in relevant cybersecurity and computing subject areas.
    • Contribute to the design, review and continuous enhancement of modules and programmes.
    • Ensure cybersecurity-related curriculum content remains academically rigorous, current and informed by technological and industry developments.
    • Contribute specialist expertise in areas including penetration testing, ethical hacking, network security, vulnerability assessment and secure systems.
    • Support students through academic guidance, tutoring and appropriate pastoral signposting.
    • Contribute to research, scholarship, professional development and industry engagement.
    • Participate in quality assurance, assessment moderation, annual monitoring, programme review and academic governance activities.
    • Contribute to student recruitment, open days, induction, outreach and other Faculty or campus activities.

Required Qualifications and Experience

    • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computing or a closely related discipline.
    • Postgraduate qualification, Master’s or equivalent, in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science or a closely related discipline.
    • A completed Doctorate (PhD or Professional Doctorate) in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Security or a closely related discipline.
    • The candidate’s highest academic qualification must be duly attested by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), and candidates must hold, or be able to obtain, the relevant UAE Ministry of Education Equivalency Certificate as required**.**
    • Experience teaching Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Security or closely related subjects within Higher Education.
    • Practical experience in cybersecurity, penetration testing, ethical hacking, vulnerability assessment or security testing within an academic, professional or laboratory environment.
    • Experience designing and delivering hands-on cybersecurity laboratory activities using industry-standard tools in safe and controlled environments.
    • Experience of assessment design, marking, moderation and providing effective feedback in Higher Education.
    • Experience contributing to curriculum design, module development, validation, review or enhancement.
    • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, threats, vulnerabilities, attack vectors, controls and defensive approaches.
    • Strong practical knowledge of penetration testing and ethical hacking methodologies, including scoping, reconnaissance, enumeration, exploitation, reporting and remediation.
    • Knowledge of network and system security, web/application security, vulnerability assessment and secure computing principles.
    • Practical capability with cybersecurity tools and environments such as Kali Linux, Nmap, Wireshark, Burp Suite and Metasploit, or comparable industry tools.
    • Strong understanding of the legal, ethical and professional responsibilities associated with cybersecurity and penetration testing.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear and engaging learning experiences.
    • Strong digital capability and confidence using virtual laboratories and technology-enhanced teaching approaches. Pasted text

Desirable

    • Higher Education teaching qualification, Fellowship of Advance HE (FHEA) or equivalent professional recognition.
    • Relevant professional cybersecurity certification such as OSCP, OSWE, CEH, CREST, CISSP, GIAC or equivalent.
    • Experience supervising undergraduate and/or postgraduate projects or dissertations.
    • Relevant professional or industry experience in cybersecurity, penetration testing, security operations, consultancy or a related area.
    • Evidence of research, scholarship, publications, conference activity, professional practice or knowledge exchange in a relevant discipline.
