Overview:  The Senior Staff Security Engineer L7 will be responsible for the delivery of the Cyber Security Services to our customers. This role will provide technical leadership around Cyber Security, work with the team in resolving cyber security incidents, and proactively suggest best practices and solutions to strengthen the customer environment**.**

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Utilize broad experience to solve complex and highly exposed cyber security issues, as well as lead teams across security disciplines including penetration testing, security operations, encryption, or identity and access management.
• Sharpen company knowledge of the inner workings of the security department’s software and how these applications are effective against external threats, both for Inovalon and their external customers.
• Design and develop advanced security features on the next-generation firewalls.
• Work with product management to translate ideas into functional designs.
• Utilize programming skills to produce an efficient, robust, and secure implementation.
• Interact with support teams throughout the entire software development cycle.
• Act as “the point of contact” for various external customers when it comes to information security matters.
• Provide clarification externally around how Inovalon’s customers are protected by adversary threats, and how the company continues to research and modernize its efforts against these potential coercions.
• Adhere to all confidentiality, HIPAA, regulatory, and other such policies, procedures, and requirements as outlined within Employer’s Operating Policies and Procedures in all ways and at all times with respect to any aspect of the data handled or services rendered in the scope of work.
• Maintain compliance with Inovalon’s policies, procedures and mission statement, and fulfill those responsibilities and/or duties that may be reasonably provided by Inovalon for the purpose of achieving operational and financial success.
• On Call Policy**:** Participate in an on-call rotation to support critical issues, including outside standard business hours (evenings, weekends, and holidays), ensuring timely response and resolution as per defined SLAs.

Job Requirements:

• 12+ years of professional software development experience or equivalent practical experience required.
• Hands-on experience with networking protocols and network security technologies.
• Expertise of multi-core / multi-process / multi-threaded programming.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP internals and common data structure and algorithms.
• Solid communication skills and bring a can-do attitude to a dynamic working environment.
• Experience with large-scale and high-performance software design and development is preferred.
• Strong coding skills in popular languages and platforms, including C/C++, C#, Java, Javascript, SQL, Ruby, Python, and others, and the ability to pick up new platforms quickly.
• Advanced Qualifications - Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux internals
• Familiarity with embedded development and protocols a plus.
• Programming experience in C/C++ a plus.

Education:

• Required: Bachelor of Science in an engineering or technical discipline.
• Preferred: Bachelor of Science in a cybersecurity discipline or a Masters in an engineering or technical discipline with cybersecurity coursework.
• Preferred – CISSP, AWS Security.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• Sedentary work (i.e. sitting for long periods of time);
• Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force;
• Frequently or constantly to lift, carry push, pull or otherwise move objects and repetitive motions;
• Subject to inside environmental conditions; and
• Travel for this position will include less than 5% locally usually for training purposes.
