Role Summary 

The Senior Cybersecurity Engineer – Cloud & Identity is responsible for helping ensure the security, reliability, and effective operation of National Life Group’s cloud infrastructure and security platforms. This role supports Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, Intune, and Microsoft 365, with a focus on identity, privileged access, device management, authentication, and related security controls. 

The Senior Cybersecurity Engineer – Cloud & Identity applies deep cloud-security expertise and strong technical problem-solving skills to address complex security challenges, implement and enhance security controls, remediate identified deficiencies, and maintain reliable access for users. The role works independently within established policies, leads assigned areas of technical accountability, and partners closely with Security, Infrastructure, application teams, Audit, and other stakeholders to develop effective technical approaches and strengthen National Life Group’s security posture. 

This position currently offers an onsite work schedule, with the expectation that you will be in the office four (4) days per week during onsite core days.  Our current onsite core days are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.  The work schedule type and core days are subject to change with advance notification and manager discretion. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Engineer, configure, administer, and maintain security controls across Microsoft Azure and related cloud services. 
  • Administer and enhance identity and access management capabilities across Microsoft Entra ID and Active Directory. 
  • Implement and maintain privileged access management controls to protect elevated and sensitive access. 
  • Configure and support authentication and multi-factor authentication controls to strengthen account security while maintaining reliable user access. 
  • Configure, maintain, and support Microsoft Entra Conditional Access policies to enforce access requirements and strengthen identity-based security controls. 
  • Implement and maintain endpoint and device security controls through Microsoft Intune. 
  • Configure and support security controls within Microsoft 365 to protect enterprise applications, identities, and information. 
  • Design, implement, and enhance cloud security controls and technical solutions in alignment with established security requirements, policies, and standards. 
  • Analyze complex cloud and identity security issues, identify root causes, and implement effective technical solutions and remediation. 
  • Lead assigned areas of technical accountability for cloud and identity security, establishing methods and procedures for new assignments. 
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to peers and more junior engineers, reviewing their work for soundness and alignment with security standards. 
  • Lead cross-functional technical initiatives and set short-term goals aligned with department objectives for assigned areas of accountability. 
  • Partner with Security, Infrastructure, application teams, Audit, and other stakeholders to address security requirements, remediate identified deficiencies, and support audit and compliance activities. 
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, configurations, procedures, and security standards for supported platforms and controls. 
  • Apply cloud security expertise to recommend improvements to security configurations, controls, processes, and technical approaches. 
  • All other duties as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications  

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8 or more years of related experience OR advanced degree and 5 or more years of related experience OR 12 or more years of total equivalent work experience. 
  • Demonstrated experience securing Microsoft Azure cloud environments, including implementing and maintaining cloud security controls. 
  • Hands-on experience administering and securing Microsoft Entra ID. 
  • Hands-on experience supporting security capabilities and controls within Microsoft 365. 
  • Experience configuring and supporting Microsoft Entra Conditional Access policies and multi-factor authentication (MFA). 
  • Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and maintaining security controls in enterprise environments. 
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex cloud and identity security issues and implement effective solutions. 

Preferred Qualifications  

  • Experience with identity and access management (IAM) technologies, processes, and controls. 
  • Experience implementing and supporting endpoint and device security controls through Microsoft Intune. 
  • Experience implementing or supporting privileged access management solutions and controls. 
  • Security industry certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, or equivalent. 
  • Experience supporting audits, compliance activities, or security-control assessments and associated remediation efforts. 
  • Experience developing and maintaining technical security standards, procedures, and documentation.

Benefits

Base Pay Range.  The base pay range for this position is the range National Life reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors, including: prior experience and job-related knowledge; education, training and certificates; current business needs; and market factors.  The final salary or hourly wages offered may be outside of this range based on other reasons and individual circumstances.

Additional Compensation and Benefits. The total compensation package for this position may also include a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in National Life’s discretionary annual incentive programs, subject to the rules governing such programs. If hired, the employee will be in an "at-will position" and National Life reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Salary Pay Range

$112,500—$165,000 USD
