Role Overview

We are seeking experienced Fortinet Firewall Engineers to support a large-scale firewall modernization initiative involving the migration of existing FortiGate 1500D appliances to FortiGate 1800F platforms. The role will involve planning, executing, validating, and supporting firewall migrations, as well as performing FortiOS upgrades and related network security activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and execute migration of FortiGate 1500D firewalls to FortiGate 1800F appliances.
• Perform FortiOS upgrades and ensure compatibility across the security infrastructure.
• Review, validate, and migrate firewall policies, VPN configurations, routing, NAT, and security profiles.
• Conduct pre-migration assessments, implementation planning, testing, and post-migration validation.
• Troubleshoot migration, upgrade, and network security issues.
• Work closely with network, security, and infrastructure teams to minimize downtime and business impact.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, implementation plans, and rollback procedures.
• Participate in change management and deployment activities.

Required Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with FortiGate Firewalls and FortiOS administration.
• Proven experience in Fortinet firewall migrations and hardware refresh projects.
• Experience upgrading and maintaining FortiOS in enterprise environments.
• Strong knowledge of:
  • Firewall policies and security profiles
  • IPsec VPNs and SSL VPNs
  • Routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, Static Routing)
  • NAT and network segmentation
  • High Availability (HA) configurations
• Ability to troubleshoot complex network and security issues.
• Experience working in enterprise or large-scale network environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Fortinet certifications such as NSE 4, NSE 5, NSE 7, or equivalent Fortinet certifications.
• Experience with FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer.
• Exposure to structured migration methodologies and change management processes.

Key Requirement

Candidates must demonstrate prior experience with FortiGate hardware migration projects, particularly involving appliance upgrades, configuration migration, and FortiOS upgrades in production environments.
