Azure Solutions and Security Architect
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Azure Solutions and Security Architect based in the United States.
This is a senior, hands-on cloud architecture role focused on designing, securing, and delivering enterprise-grade Azure solutions in highly regulated environments. You will operate at the intersection of architecture, security engineering, compliance, and Agile product ownership, shaping how scalable cloud platforms are built and governed. The role requires strong technical depth in Azure alongside the ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical, automated controls. You will collaborate across engineering, security, operations, and executive leadership to ensure cloud environments are secure, compliant, and performant. Beyond design work, you will own Azure infrastructure and security roadmaps and guide delivery teams through execution. This is a high-impact position where architecture decisions directly influence security posture, compliance readiness, and enterprise scalability.
Accountabilities:
Lead the design, implementation, and governance of secure, scalable Azure cloud architectures while also driving Agile delivery of infrastructure and security capabilities across enterprise environments.
- Architect and implement enterprise Azure solutions across compute, networking, identity, storage, monitoring, and logging, including secure landing zones and hybrid cloud environments
- Lead cloud migration and modernization initiatives from legacy infrastructure to Azure, ensuring scalability, resilience, and security-by-design principles
- Design and implement Infrastructure as Code (ARM, Bicep, Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines to enable automated, compliant cloud deployments
- Embed Zero Trust and security-by-design principles across all cloud architectures while implementing Azure-native security services (Defender for Cloud, Sentinel, Policy, Entra ID, Conditional Access)
- Conduct security posture assessments, risk evaluations, and remediation planning to strengthen enterprise cloud environments
- Translate regulatory and compliance requirements (ISO 27001, SOC 1/2, GDPR, TISAX) into actionable technical and operational controls within Azure
- Lead audit readiness activities including evidence gathering, control validation, and stakeholder reporting on compliance posture and risk
- Serve as Agile Product Owner for Azure infrastructure and security services, owning backlog prioritization, roadmap planning, and sprint execution
- Partner with engineering, operations, and executive stakeholders to ensure delivery alignment, operational stability, and continuous improvement
Requirements:
This role requires deep Azure expertise combined with strong security, compliance, and Agile leadership experience in enterprise or regulated environments.
- 8+ years of experience in cloud architecture, infrastructure engineering, or cloud security roles
- Extensive hands-on experience designing and delivering enterprise Azure solutions, including identity, networking, governance, and monitoring
- Strong experience with Azure security tooling such as Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Sentinel, Azure Policy, and Entra ID / Conditional Access
- Proven ability to implement compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001, SOC 1/2, GDPR, and TISAX in cloud environments, including audit and gap analysis work
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, ARM templates, or Bicep in production environments
- Strong background in Agile environments, with experience as a Product Owner or technical delivery lead preferred
- Ability to communicate complex technical and regulatory concepts clearly to both engineering and executive stakeholders
- Certifications such as Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Security Engineer, CISSP, CISM, or CISA are highly valued
- Experience working in regulated, audit-heavy enterprise environments is a strong advantage
Benefits:
- Competitive base salary (starting around $155,000/year, based on experience and location)
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance
- Retirement savings plan with employer contributions
- Flexible time off and paid holidays
- Remote-first work environment with flexible scheduling
- Professional development and certification support
- Health savings and flexible spending account options
