Azure Data Security Engineer

In this role, you will be responsible for securing enterprise cloud and analytics environments within a complex, data-driven ecosystem supporting a U.S.-based client. You will design, implement, and maintain robust security controls across Azure data platforms, ensuring the protection of sensitive business and customer information. Working in a fully remote, international environment, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering and data teams to embed security best practices into analytics and cloud architectures. The position requires strong expertise in Azure security, data governance, and identity/access management. You will also play a key role in troubleshooting security incidents, performing root cause analysis, and continuously improving data protection strategies. This is a highly technical and impact-driven role where security excellence directly supports business reliability and trust.
Accountabilities
- Implement and maintain cloud data and analytics security solutions across Azure environments, ensuring protection of sensitive and regulated data.
- Design and enforce access control policies for databases, schemas, tables, and data storage systems using modern security frameworks.
- Secure CCI and PII data using mechanisms such as Row-Level Security, Column-Level Security, data masking, and encryption.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve data security issues while performing root cause analysis and implementing long-term fixes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security controls into analytics platforms and cloud data pipelines.
- Ensure compliance with information security policies, governance standards, and industry best practices.
- Support the security configuration of Azure services such as ADLS, Blob Storage, SQL Data Warehouse, and related analytics tools.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of experience in cloud security or data security engineering roles.
- 2–3 years of hands-on experience with Azure data warehousing and analytics security configurations.
- Strong experience with SQL database security, including implementation of RLS, CLS, encryption, and data masking techniques.
- Solid knowledge of Azure services such as ADLS, Blob Storage, SQL Warehouse, and related cloud data platforms.
- Familiarity with REST and SOAP APIs is a plus.
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric and Microsoft Purview is highly preferred.
- Microsoft Azure Security Engineer Associate (AZ-500) certification strongly preferred.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and ability to perform root cause analysis.
- Advanced English proficiency (B2+, ideally C1/C2) with strong communication skills for international collaboration.
